I Painted Ashley Dancing at the Spider House

I loved painting this at the Spider House.   Ashleigh was walking back toward the steps of the deck to place a customer’s order, and she just did this quick dance move to the music.  It was so delightful and free, I just had to capture it.  I must have painted her in less than a minute a – I’m not kidding.  She had moved on by the time that I got to the feet, so they are kind of sketchy.

Dear Readers:  You may have noticed that my domain has changed lavanna.com.  This has caused me to lose all of my incoming links.  Those of you who have been kind enough to link to me, would you please relink?

Also, comments motivate me to paint more!  I was an art director for years, so constructive criticism is also OK with me!

Wow, that is incredibly fast. When you’re moving that quickly do you just paint the person first and then go back and fill in the backgrounds?

Here’s my comment. Be motivated. Keep painting.

My own output is nil since the operation. However your print should be in my hands this Thursday and then it’s off to meet you.

One thing I have had the head for is web stuff so I’ve been getting a whole new look in place for the art blog for the new year. ::thrive! O

I adore your website and your paintings! I used to live in Austin and this really makes me miss it. Such lovely people live there, so many artists and free spirits. This is a wonderful portal for me, back into the town. Take care and keep painting. 🙂

      Hi, Jenny.

Thanks for the nice comments – I needed them today – just got back from a failed painting expedition!

I noticed that you were interested in figure drawing in Austin, TX and I wanted to make sure that you knew about Dr. Sketchy of Austin. We do figure drawing with style. Our models are burlesque dancers and we hold our event in a bar with food, alcohol and coffee. We have an event on Sunday, February 22nd from 5-8pm with the lovely Tynkerhell as our model. In addition to being a laid back and fun figure drawing class, we also offer contests, prizes and music. We are the rock and roll version of the traditional figure drawing session and we pride ourselves on an event that is open to all artists. Come drink, draw and make friends in a relaxed and progressive setting. For more information, you can check us out here at our website here http://www.austinsketchy.com.

      Hi, Miss D.

I was just doing some much-needed blog maintenance, when I came upon your comment from Feb! I am so sorry that I didn’t reply.Goodness.

Yes, I am very interested in this group, and would LOVE to come. I will have to pop over and look at the schedule. Again, I am so sorry that I didn’t respond – I was painting for a show like a mad woman during that period, and I guess that I didn’t notice.
