I loved painting this at the Spider House. Ashleigh was walking back toward the steps of the deck to place a customer’s order, and she just did this quick dance move to the music. It was so delightful and free, I just had to capture it. I must have painted her in less than a minute a – I’m not kidding. She had moved on by the time that I got to the feet, so they are kind of sketchy.

Wow, that is incredibly fast. When you’re moving that quickly do you just paint the person first and then go back and fill in the backgrounds?

I didn’t even know it was a system (See my post: “A Smattering on Painting Technique”), until I read a biography on Whistler. Anyone that stares a lot will understand.
